I recently bought the Fujifilm x20 which is a compact -point and shoot- camera with many assets of the bigger ones. Among them : raw files, manual controls, viewfinder, solid body, great lens (2.0 – 2.8).
Both its size and design make it perfect for street photography, which is not my major. Nevertheless I defintely needed something smaller and lighter to carry around instead of my 5DmkII which hardly leaves the house for other purpose than professional assignments.I had lost a little bit of the photographic pleasure that comes along with spontaneity. The best camera is the one that’s with you.
Spending three days in Madrid was the perfect test or the Fuji. It was sunny, no cloud at all, that means hard shadows, good to see what the sensor can handle. Furthermore, walking all day long by 30°C led me to consider this camera as part of my equipment for good. It sure is a toy compared to the 5D but it starts very fast, is pleasant to manipulate and delivers great b/w and colors pictures.
